Silence is a survival skill until it becomes a life sentence of its own. Many of us learn to mute our truth to avoid conflict, rejection, or consequence. Poetry lets us unmute safely. Writing helped me name anger, grief, regret, and identity without ornament. Every poem is a conversation with the parts of ourselves we ignored for years. Healing starts when we speak, even quietly. Words are witnesses when people fail to look. If you’ve ever felt unheard, write something true. It shifts the internal landscape in ways volume never could. Truth spoken once begins a longer repair.
